Navratri, a vibrant celebration dedicated to Goddess Durga and her nine divine forms (Navadurga), is one of the most awaited Hindu festivals of 2025. Starting from September 22 and concluding with Vijayadashami on October 2, this auspicious festival is marked by devotion, colorful traditions, and spiritual ceremonies across India and beyond.
Significance of Navratri Mantras:

Navdurga Mantra (Forms of Goddess Durga):
Sanskrit:
प्रथमं शैलपुत्रीति, द्वितीयं ब्रह्मचारिणी।
तृतीयं चन्द्रघण्टेति, कूष्माण्डेति चतुर्थकम्।
पञ्चमं स्कन्दमातेति, षष्ठं कात्यायनी तथा।
सप्तमं कालरात्रिश्च, महागौरीति चाष्टमम्।
नवमं सिद्धिदात्री च, नवदुर्गाः प्रकीर्तिताः॥
Meaning:
The first is Shailputri, the daughter of the mountain.
The second is Brahmacharini, the ascetic goddess.
The third is Chandraghanta, who wears the crescent moon.
The fourth is Kushmanda, the creator of the universe.
The fifth is Skandamata, mother of Lord Skanda (Kartikeya).
The sixth is Katyayani, the fierce warrior goddess.
The seventh is Kalaratri, the dark and fearsome goddess.
The eighth is Mahagauri, the pure and serene goddess.
The ninth is Siddhidatri, the bestower of supernatural powers.
These nine forms are known as the Navadurga.

Day 1: Maa Shailputri

Main Mantra:
ॐ देवी शैल्पुत्र्यै नमः
वन्दे वाञ्छितलाभाय चन्द्रार्धकृतशेखराम् ।
वृषारुढां शूलधरां शैलपुत्रीं यशस्विनीम् ॥
Meaning: Salutations to Maa Shailputri, the daughter of the mountain, who wears a crescent moon on her head, rides a bull, holds a trident and lotus, and grants all desired benefits.
Dhyana Mantra:
“या देवी सर्वभूतेषु माँ शैलपुत्री रूपेण संस्थिता।
नमस्तस्यै नमस्तस्यै नमस्तस्यै नमो नमः॥”
Meaning: I bow to the goddess who resides in all beings in the form of Shailputri.
Day 2: Maa Brahmacharini

Main Mantra:
ॐ देवी ब्रह्मचरिण्यै नमः।
दधाना करपद्माभ्यामक्षमालाकमण्डलू ।
देवी प्रसीदतु मयि ब्रह्मचारिण्यनुत्तमा ॥
Meaning: Salutations to the ascetic goddess Brahmacharini, who holds a rosary and water pot and grants grace and spiritual knowledge.
Dhyana Mantra:
“या देवी सर्वभूतेषु माँ ब्रह्मचारिणी रूपेण संस्थिता।
नमस्तस्यै नमस्तस्यै नमस्तस्यै नमो नमः॥”
Meaning: I bow to the goddess who dwells everywhere in the form of Brahmacharini.
Day 3: Maa Chandraghanta

Main Mantra:
ॐ देवी चन्द्रघण्टायै नमः।
पिण्डजप्रवरारुढा चण्डकोपास्त्रकैर्युता ।
प्रसादं तनुते मह्यां चन्द्रघण्टेति विश्रुता ॥
Meaning: Salutations to Maa Chandraghanta, who rides a tiger, carries weapons, and dispels fear and evil.
Dhyana Mantra:
“या देवी सर्वभूतेषु माँ चंद्रघण्टा रूपेण संस्थिता।
नमस्तस्यै नमस्तस्यै नमस्तस्यै नमो नमः॥”
Meaning: I bow to the goddess who exists in all beings as Chandraghanta.
Day 4: Maa Kushmanda

Main Mantra:
ॐ देवी कूष्माण्डायै नमः।
सुरासम्पूर्णकलशं रुधिराप्लुतमेव च ।
दधाना हस्तपद्माभ्यां कूष्माण्डा शुभदास्तु मे ॥
Meaning: Salutations to Kushmanda, the creator of the universe, who holds pots of divine nectar and bestows blessings.
Dhyana Mantra:
“या देवी सर्वभूतेषु माँ कूष्माण्डा रूपेण संस्थिता।
नमस्तस्यै नमस्तस्यै नमस्तस्यै नमो नमः॥”
Meaning: I salute the goddess who resides in all beings as Kushmanda.
Day 5: Maa Skandamata

Main Mantra:
ॐ देवी स्कन्दमातायै नमः।
सिंहासनगता नित्यं पद्माश्रितकरद्वया ।
शुभदास्तु सदा देवी स्कन्दमाता यशस्विनी ॥
Meaning: Salutations to Skandamata, who rides a lion and holds infant Skanda (Kartikeya) on her lap, granting success and protection.
Dhyana Mantra:
“या देवी सर्वभूतेषु माँ स्कन्दमाता रूपेण संस्थिता।
नमस्तस्यै नमस्तस्यै नमस्तस्यै नमो नमः॥”
Meaning: I bow to the goddess present in all beings as Skandamata.
Day 6: Maa Katyayani

Main Mantra:
ॐ देवी कात्यायन्यै नमः।
चन्द्रहासोज्वलकरा शार्दूलवरवाहना ।
कात्यायनी शुभं दघाद्देवी दानवघातिनी ॥
Meaning: Salutations to Katyayani, the fierce warrior goddess who rides a lion and destroys demons.
Dhyana Mantra:
“या देवी सर्वभूतेषु माँ कात्यायनी रूपेण संस्थिता।
नमस्तस्यै नमस्तस्यै नमस्तस्यै नमो नमः॥”
Meaning: I bow to the goddess who dwells in all beings as Katyayani.
Day 7: Maa Kaalratri

Main Mantra:
ॐ देवी कालरात्र्यै नमः।
एकवेणी जपाकर्णपूरा नग्ना खरास्थिता ।
लम्बोष्टी कर्णिकाकर्णी तैलाभ्यक्तशरीरिणी ॥
वामपादोल्लसल्लोहलताकण्टकभूषणा ।
वर्धनमूर्धध्वजा कृष्णा कालरात्रिर्भयङ्करी ॥
Meaning: Salutations to Kaalratri, the fierce dark goddess who removes darkness, fear, and evil.
Dhyana Mantra:
“या देवी सर्वभूतेषु माँ कालरात्रि रूपेण संस्थिता।
नमस्तस्यै नमस्तस्यै नमस्तस्यै नमो नमः॥”
Meaning: I bow to the goddess present as Kaalratri in all beings.
Day 8: Maa Mahagauri

Main Mantra:
ॐ देवी महागौर्यै नमः।
श्वेते वृषे समारुढा श्वेताम्बरधरा शुचिः ।
महागौरी शुभं दघान्महादेवप्रमोददा ॥
Meaning: Salutations to Mahagauri, pale and radiant, riding a white bull, who bestows purity and happiness.
Dhyana Mantra:
“या देवी सर्वभूतेषु माँ महागौरी रूपेण संस्थिता।
नमस्तस्यै नमस्तस्यै नमस्तस्यै नमो नमः॥”
Meaning: I bow to the goddess present in all beings as Mahagauri.
Day 9: Maa Siddhidatri

Main Mantra:
ॐ देवी सिद्धिदात्र्यै नमः।
सिद्धगन्धर्वयक्षाघैरसुरैरमरैरपि ।
सेव्यमाना सदा भूयात् सिद्धिदा सिद्धिदायिनी ॥
Meaning: Salutations to Siddhidatri, worshipped by gods and celestial beings, who grants all accomplishments and wisdom.
Dhyana Mantra:
“या देवी सर्वभूतेषु माँ सिद्धिदात्री रूपेण संस्थिता।
नमस्तस्यै नमस्तस्यै नमस्तस्यै नमो नमः॥”
Meaning: I bow to the goddess who resides in all beings as Siddhidatri.
